Somewhere  along the  way

A  persistent  voice taught  me I  was  in  competition with  every  other  man  in  the  world.

I  listened  carefully and  learned  the  lesson well.

It  was  not  enough

To find  a  loving wife  and  have  average,  happy  kids,

To see  a  sunrise  and  wonder  at  an  eclipsing moon,

To  enjoy  a  meal  and  catch  a  trout  in  a  silent,  silver river,

To picnic  in  a  meadow  at  the  top  of a  mountain

or ride  horses  along the  rim  of a  hidden  lake,

To laugh  like  a  child  at  midnight and  to still  wonder  about  the  falling stars.

It  was  only  enough

To be  admired  and  powerful  and  to rush from one success to  another,

To barely see faces  or  hear  voices, to  ignore  beauty  and forget  about music,

To reduce everything and everybody to a stereo color pattern on the way to some  new  triumph,

To rest in no victory, but to create new and more demanding goals even as I  seem  to succeed,

Until  finally I  was  estranged  and  exhausted,  victorious  and joyless, successful  and  ready to  abandon  life.

Then  somewhere  along the  way

I  remembered  the  laugh  of a  child  I  once  knew,

I  saw  a  familiar  boy wandering joyously in  the  woods,

I  felt  a  heart  pounding  with  excitement  at  the  birth  of a  new  day,

Until  I  was  in  competition with  no  one  and  life was  clear  again.

Somewhere  along the  way.

Christian Trojan Horse

Once upon a time there was a very beautiful princess of the Greeks who had made the neighboring kingdom's Trojan Prince fall in love with her. Unfortunately their marriage cannot be done because the Greeks and Trojans were in constant hostility.

But the Trojan Prince Paris was clever. Paris was able to kidnap Princess Helen and brought her to Troy City. Then the battle started between the Greeks and the Trojans. For the long 10 years of bloody war, the Greeks could not defeat the Trojans who kept themselves inside the city of Troy.

Then a Greek patriot Ulysses thought of a trick to defeat the Trojans. He suggested that they give a gift for the Trojans. They then built a huge wooden statue to be offering as a sacred offering the God of Athena in Troy. However inside the wooden horse statue there were hundreds of Greek warriors hiding. The Greeks then pretended to leave their siege of the city but returned back in the night.

The Trojans were so happy that they took the wooden horse inside the city and made celebrations. However, by midnight while the people in the city were tired because of the whole day celebrations, the Greeks inside the horse statue came out through the secret door built in to the statue. They killed the guards at the city gate and opened the gates to let their fellow soldiers in.

That night, the Greeks burned the city of Troy and defeated the Athenian Trojans. The Trojans were defeated through deception.

Is it possible that there is a Trojan Horse in the Christian church today? Is it possible that millions are deceived and they didn't know about it? Maybe we have accepted a so called "offering to God, but we have actually accepted falsehood under a religious guise. Let me tell you plainly, the book of Revelation predicts Satan's greatest deceptions that would be religious. Satan disguises errors as truths. Satan counterfeits the truth. Satan substitutes falsehood for truths. He is cunning, deceptive foe and will do anything to mislead humans.

A counterfeit religious day of worship would be accepted in place of the Sabbath of the 10 Commandments.
The central issue is the battle between the truth and error is "worship." If he could alter the Christian's allegiance from Sabbath to Sunday, then they will forget about the true God. Thus the flood gates for every other species of falsehood will be opened. Falsehood will flow into the Christian church.

Purpose of this Blog

Malam ini saya sedang mensortir semua buku-buku yang sepertinya sudah bertahun-tahun "nongkrong" di rak buku saya. Menurut isteri saya, mereka sudah begitu bosan di pajang tanpa di perhatikan pemilikinya. Ketika membongkar buku-buku tersebut, saya menemukan beberapa buku renungan pagi terbitan beberapa tahun yang lalu. Sehingga muncul di dalam benak, bagaimana kalau ini di scan dan di posting di blog, biar ada gunanya bagi lebih banyak orang lagi?

Maka demikianlah asal muasal blog ini. Tujuan dari blog ini adalah untuk membagikan renungan pendek setiap hari, bukan hanya renungan pagi tetapi juga khotbah-khotbah pendek dan bahan-bahan rohani lainnya. Renungan-renungan ini bukan dikarang oleh saya, tetapi diambil dari tulisan-tulisan orang, dari buku ataupun dari Internet. Bisa bahasa Indonesia bisa juga bahasa Inggris. Setiap renungan akan tercantum sumber aslinya.

Mudah-mudahan akan berguna bagi siapa saja yang sempat mampir. Tuhan kiranya memberkati!

Injil Yesus

"Maka kata sida-sida itu kepada Filipus: 'Aku bertanya kepada- mu, tentangsiapakah nabiberka- ta demikian? Tentang dirinya sen- diri atau tentang orang lain?' Maka mulailah Filipus berbicara dan bertolak dari nas itu ia mcm- beritakan Injil Yesus kepadanya " (Kis. 8:34, 35). 

Lilian dan saya sedang mengadakan kebaktian evangelisasi di kota multi etnis San Pedro, California. Inilah seri kedua evangelisasi kami, dan kami belum melihat banyak orang yang bertobat. Sesudah beberapa kali pertemuan, Marie, salah seorang pengunjung, meminta saya kalau-kalau saya bisa berbicara kepada suaminya dan menerangkan beberapa nubuatan yang saya khotbahkan. Sesudah menga- markan saya bahwa suaminya, Reuben, adalah seorang Yahudi dan tidak percaya kepada Yesus, dia setuju untuk membawa suaminya ke rumah kami pada suatu malam dalam minggu itu.

Kami bersama-sama menganalisis nubuatan luar biasa dalam Daniel 9 di mana Daniel meramalkan ratusan tahun sebelum kelahiran Yesus, tahun dan hari kematian-Nya di kayu salib. Saya menekankan intisari nubuatan itu: Yesus, Mesias yang datang itu, "akan disingkirkan seorang yang telah diurapi, padahal tidak ada salahnya apa-apa" (Dan. 9:26). Yesus tidak pernah melakukan sesuatu yang membuat-Nya pantas untuk dihukum mati. Namun la telah "disingkirkan [dibunuh], padahal tidak ada salahnya apa-apa."

"Reuben," kata saya menerangkan, "Yesus mati bukan karena kesalahan- Nya, tetapi karena dosa-dosamu dan dosa-dosaku." Dengan segera pemikiran ini menguasainya. "Injil Yesus" mengena kepadanya, dan di ruang keluarga rumah kami pada malam itu Reuben menyerahkan hatinya kepada Juruselamatnya. Melalui nubuatan Daniel Yesus mengubahkan kehidupan Reuben. Ia dibaptiskan, dan kami bersukacita bersama dia dan Marie.

Pada waktu Filipus dituntun Roh Allah untuk pergi dan duduk di kereta sida- sida dari Etiopia itu, ia menemukan sida-sida itu sedang membaca nubuatan Yesaya. Melalui nubuatan Yesaya, "kabar baik mengenai Yesus" mati karena dosa-dosa kita memberikan pengaruh pada waktu itu juga kepada sida-sida itu. Injil itu mengubahkan kehidupannya. Sementara Filipus dan sida-sida itu "melanjutkan perjalanan mereka, dan tiba di suatu tempat yang ada air. Lalu kata sida- sida itu: 'Lihat, di sini ada air; apakah halangannya, jika aku dibaptis?'" Filipus membaptiskan sida-sida itu di tempat itu juga, dan sida-sida itu "meneruskan perjalanannya dengan sukacita" (Kis. 8:36, Sebagai hasilnya, sida-sida itu membawa kabar Injil ke Etiopia.—Daniel R Guild, Kabar Baik yang Abadi.
